What Is the Mugshot Generator?

Mugshot Generator is an AI mugshot maker that turns one regular portrait into a staged booking-photo image. White wall, height chart, neutral expression, flat fluorescent light: the kind of frame people associate with crime documentaries and arrest news, except nobody is going anywhere near a police station. This is not a color filter or a sticker overlay. The AI rebuilds the scene around your face. The backdrop gets regenerated, the lighting is redone to match flash-on-flat-wall conditions, and the framing repositions so it reads as a real intake photo. Your face, hair, and likeness stay recognizable, which is what makes the fake mugshot land when a friend opens the group chat at 11pm and does a genuine double-take.

How to Generate a Mugshot in 3 Steps

One portrait, one click, booking-photo result after processing.

Upload Your Portrait

Drop in a clear front-facing photo where the face is unobstructed. Selfies, headshots, even a casual phone snap will work. PNG, JPG, or WebP up to 10MB. Sunglasses, hats, and heavy beauty filters reduce the booking-photo realism, so prefer plain shots.

AI Stages the Booking Photo

The model redraws the background as a white height-chart wall. Framing gets repositioned to intake-photo composition, and even flash light goes across the face. Facial features, hair, and skin tone stay identifiable so the prank still lands when you forward it.

Download and Send to the Group Chat

Download the staged mugshot PNG straight to your phone or desktop after processing. There is no watermark on the image, so you can drop it into iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord, or TikTok without a second round of editing.

The Booking Photo Look, Without the Booking

A regular mugshot filter slaps a height-chart sticker behind your face and calls it done. The Mugshot Generator does the whole scene: backdrop swap, framing crop, flat flash light across the face, neutral shoulders-up pose. The result reads closer to a crime-doc B-roll frame than a simple lens effect, while still clearly being a staged image for jokes, covers, and social posts.

Group Chat Currency Your Friends Will Steal

Birthday roast pictures. Bachelor-party invites. The new running joke about who got the speeding ticket. A staged mugshot lands in iMessage and gives the group chat a visual punchline. Use it on yourself, a friend, or a pet when you have a clean source photo and permission to share the joke.

True-Crime Reels Without a Crime Scene

TikTok and Reels creators in the true-crime, comedy, and roleplay lanes burn through B-roll. A clean mugshot frame opens a roast video, hooks a fake-arrest skit, or sells a costume reveal. Generate a batch in an afternoon, use them as overlays for storytime audio, and avoid scraping public records or stock sites for visuals that do not fit the joke.

Same Face, Different Story

The whole joke depends on people recognizing the person in the photo. The AI is tuned to leave the face alone: eye spacing, jawline, hair, skin tone, even the small details people use to ID a friend in a thumbnail. Only the surrounding scene changes. Wall, light, framing, posture. You hand over a photo of your sister and people see your sister in handcuffs, not a stranger with her hair color.

Why Choose iMideo Mugshot Generator

Staged Scene, Not a Sticker

The white wall, height chart, intake framing, and flat flash are rebuilt around your face, not pasted on top. The image reads as a real booking frame instead of a costume-app filter.

Your Face Stays Recognizable

Facial features, hair, and skin tone are preserved on purpose. Friends spot you in the result, which is the entire point of sending it into a group chat.

Works on Friends and Pets

Clean portraits work best: yourself, a friend who deserves the roast, or a dog with a guilty expression. Front-facing shots produce the most convincing intake-photo look.

Quick Staged Mugshot Workflow

Processing time depends on image size, portrait clarity, and server load. Useful when you need a batch for a Reel or a single shot for an iMessage thread that is already moving.

Private and Secure

Your photos are used only to generate your result. Not stored long-term, not used to train models, not shared with third parties.

Ready-to-share output

Download a clean PNG with the staged booking-photo look, then drop it straight into invites, group chats, posts, or product mockups.

What Our Users Say

Tyler R.

TikTok Creator (True-Crime Comedy)

I do true-crime parody on TikTok and the opening visual matters. I used to screenshot public records and crop them, which is uncomfortable to begin with. Now I generate staged mugshot frames from consenting friends instead.

Megan H.

Friend-Group Roast Captain

Made a fake arrest photo of my best friend for her bachelorette invite. The flat wall, height chart, and flash lighting made the joke clear immediately.

Andre C.

Halloween Costume Reveal Maker

I run a Reels page where I post costume reveals. The mugshot frame is my intro card now: face, height chart, intake angle, then the costume reveal swipes in. It gives the cold-open a clearer story before the outfit appears.

Priya S.

Dog Mom (Instagram)

My corgi chewed through three pairs of shoes in one week. I made her a mugshot post captioned 'Repeat Offender' and the booking-photo wall behind her face made the joke clear.

Marcus D.

Birthday Roast Video Editor

I edit roast videos for friends' birthdays. A mugshot still tagged with a fake charge gives me an easy visual hook: 'Felony bad-tipping.' 'Aggravated cargo-shorts.' It is faster than building the scene manually.

Sasha L.

True-Crime Podcast Cover Designer

I make episode cover art for a satirical true-crime podcast. We use friends and family with permission, swap them into booking-photo frames, and add fake case numbers. It gives us a reusable visual format without building every scene in Photoshop.

Jordan K.

Bachelor Party Planner

Made mugshots of all six groomsmen and printed them as place cards at the rehearsal dinner. Each one had a fake charge under their face, and the bride's family understood the joke immediately.

Riley P.

Costume Shop Marketer

We sell prisoner-style Halloween costumes. We model them on our team and run mugshot-style versions for listing drafts, then compare those against the standard product shots during campaign review.

Frequently Asked Questions

1What does the Mugshot Generator do?

The Mugshot Generator is an AI tool that turns a regular portrait into a staged booking-photo image. It rebuilds the scene around your face: white height-chart wall, intake framing, flat flash lighting. Your facial features stay recognizable. The result is designed to look like an arrest intake photo style, but no actual records or police involvement are used.

2Is the mugshot result realistic?

Yes, when the source portrait is clear. The AI redraws the backdrop, repositions the framing, and re-lights the face to match the flat flash-on-white-wall look of intake photos. Heavy filters, deep shadows, or poor lighting in the source photo will reduce realism.

3Will my face still look like me in the result?

Yes. The model is tuned to preserve facial features, hair, eye color, and skin tone. Only the scene around the face changes: backdrop, framing, lighting, posture. That preservation is what makes the prank work because the person still needs to be recognizable.

4Can I use a pet photo?

Yes. Pet mugshots produce strong results, especially dogs and cats with clean front-facing portraits. Use a clear photo where the pet's face is unobstructed and roughly centered. For a softer pet portrait style, try the AI Pet Portrait Generator.

5What kind of source photo gives the best result?

Front-facing or slightly angled portraits with the face well lit and unobstructed produce the most convincing booking-photo result. Avoid heavy beauty filters, sunglasses, dramatic shadows, or wide-angle distortion. A regular phone selfie taken in daylight near a wall usually works as well as a professional headshot.

6How long does it take?

Processing time depends on image resolution, portrait clarity, and current server load. You can leave the tab open and the staged result will appear in the task panel when it is ready.

7Are my photos stored or used for AI training?

No. Your photos are used only to generate your result. They are not stored long-term, not used to train AI models, and not shared with third parties. Once your task is complete and you have downloaded the result, the source image is removed from active processing.

8Can I use the mugshot for social media or pranks?

Yes. A prank mugshot is the most common use case. Group-chat jokes, Halloween costume reveals, birthday roasts, bachelor or bachelorette invites, and TikTok or Reels overlays all work well. Add a fake-charge caption for extra effect. Make sure you have permission from anyone whose photo you are converting before posting publicly.

9Can I sell prints, merch, or commercial products using the result?

Yes, with conditions. Generated images can be used for commercial purposes such as merch prints, costume marketing, or paid content, as long as you have the rights to the source photo and respect any depicted person's likeness rights. Do not use the tool to impersonate real arrests, defame anyone, or imply a real crime occurred.

10How is this different from a regular mugshot photo filter?

A regular filter slaps a height-chart pattern behind whatever the camera sees and calls it done. The lighting on the face still looks like a phone selfie, and the framing stays whatever it was originally. The Mugshot Generator regenerates the entire scene: backdrop, framing, flash light across the face, neutral shoulder-up pose. For other identity transformations, see our AI Face Swap tool.
